GOTHIKA Presents: Words From Tha Heart
With the one-year anniversary of this website and nearly three years of GOTHIKA’s Instagram on the horizon, I find myself standing at a crossroads, wondering where to steer this journey next. My 25th birthday is just around the bend, and lately, my mind has been swirling with more reflections than I can count. The past month has been a whirlwind—so much has unfolded, so many thoughts I’ve wanted to share, but never quite enough hours in the day. Still, the moment I launched this website, I promised myself I would show up here consistently and share my world with you.
One thing that’s always held me back from posting is the worry that I might get a little too personal here. When I first started, I promised myself to keep things buttoned-up and formal—classic English and Journalism major vibes. But lately, I’ve realized that what this page really needs is a spark of personality. So, over the past few weeks, I’ve been planning a new way to connect with you all and let you see the real me behind the words.
So, I’m excited to introduce “Words From Tha Heart”—a new series where I’ll be sharing weekly (or maybe even daily) posts straight from me to you. I’ll be opening up about growing up in poverty, life in DC and PG County, mental health, racial and social injustice, and of course, music. I truly believe this is the next step in finding my voice and building a more genuine connection with you all.
The first entry drops later this week (I promise, for real this time!). I can’t wait to open up and get real with you all. See you soon!
